First Full Week of School
EP Rock Staff,
Thank you for all your work getting our school year off to a great start 4K-5. There were a couple glitches once students were on their bus routes on Friday, but we had all our students on the right buses when they left EP Rock. Thank you team! We need to stay diligent with this for a while longer. I appreciate everyone who is helping get all students to the right locations at the end of the day.
On Wednesday, EP Rock Parent Group is hosting an open house for staff to communicate all the ways they support the students, families and staff at our school. We will meet in the media center at 8:00am. Parent Group will provide some breakfast items. Before they start, our TAC team will take questions about the agenda notes, I pushed out last week. Sorry I forgot to carve out time at our meeting last Monday to discuss.
Finally a few items about PBIS, as we merge practices across schools, we have adjusted some things with our Rock Star Recognition. Here's the document from Sarah where information about Rock Star Recognition can be found, as well as other important PBIS information. This week our PBIS focus is on the playground. A reminder that during the six weeks of kickoff the guidance is to give five tickets a day (25 for the week) trying to give most of the tickets out in the weekly setting of focus. As you are outside with your students for recess, remember to give the specific feedback to them, when they have earned tickets for meeting expectations.
ROCK STAR Recognition
When a student goes ABOVE and beyond demonstrating expected behaviors, we will continue with the “Rock Star” postcards that the staff write out. These can be found between the workroom and main office.
We are going away from signing the Rock Star Log Book, and instead will be showcasing a picture of this student near the cafeteria on our “Rock Star Wall”
If you write a Rock Star card for a student, you have a few options:
a) Take a picture of the student holding the Rock Star card, print it out and put in Sarah Flier’s mailbox
b) Take a picture of the student and email it to Sarah Flier to have her print out (you will not be allowed to judge her for her total printing charges if you do this)
c) Email Sarah Flier to find a time to take a picture of the student with the note
We will post these and routinely swap them out as more students are recognized so they have at least a week of hallway fame.
NEW
If you would like to take it a step further because the student went even further beyond the expectations (a Rock Star 2.0, if you will), you can put the postcard on the magnet outside of Dolf’s office and he will make the phone call home and give that student recognition from the Principal. We will still take a picture of the student and post it on the wall.
Finally we will begin our PLCs during your designated common planning time, starting this week.
