Monday's Professional Development

EP Rock Staff:

You have all earned a well deserved three day weekend after full days teaching and two evenings holding parent/teacher conferences. I wanted to get my blog out early with all the professional development information in one area for Monday, October 18th.

First is the 7 Mindsets training that will take place individually online and via Zoom here at EP Rock.

FastBridge training for EP Rock staff will be in the media center.  12pm-2pm for classroom teachers and 2:00pm-4:00pm for specialists. Please see itinerary below. 

 Professional Learning 10/18

Finally SLO time is set aside after 7 MIndsets and FastBridge professional development (due October 31st).By the time the presentation linked below was complete (with input from principals and T & L), there was not time to have a staff meeting to review it.  Classroom teachers will use BAS to write SLO's, all others can check with me if you are unsure. Just a few notes as you review:

• There has been a slight shift in the direction of testing to hard-  We are not going to prevent teachers from testing beyond a grade level above. We need to ensure we are still providing challenging opportunities for all students. Having said that, we want to make sure teachers know to consider the developmental appropriateness of the texts we are using with students. If you have questions about this, please see Lori or me.
• There is a sample SLO in the presentation below that should be a helpful guide when creating your SLO. If you have questions about what to do with students reading above grade level, again see Lori or me. For these students, typical growth from fall to spring on FastBridge could be an option.
• Please note that only YEAR ONE PROBATIONARY staff should fill in the standard reflections. Everyone else should review for possible use in PPG, but will not have to reflect on the standards. 
• Here's the EP Rock SLO Presentation for support. I will also be in the computer lab at 1:30pm and again at 2:00pm for anyone who would like clarification or support from me on SLO's. Hard copies of the sample SLO will be available in the workroom. 
• Finally PLCs on Tuesday will be focused on progress monitoring of students in reading intervention and generating our daily guided reading groups for students who need additional core instruction.
