This Week's Staff Meeting and the January 24th Professional Development Day

At our staff meeting on Wednesday, we will cover Love and Logic techniques to prevent unwanted behaviors in the classroom, and Paula Blattner will review the guided writing process within the Jan Richardson framework. Please bring your Jan Richardson manual to the staff meeting. 

I also wanted to get out to you the professional development agenda for Friday, January 24th. Support staff will be paid, if they are able to attend. 

• 8:00am community building activity led by Sunshine (gym)
• Immediately following community building activity:   building-based Trauma Sensitive Training (media center)
• 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Speaker: Dr. Klem @ HHS Auditorium 
• Dr. Klem will provide an overview of what trauma and adverse childhood experiences are and how these events impact development. He will specifically talk about how these experiences influence our emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development.  Next he will link this information to specific mental health disorders and how these disorders manifest in the schools. He will also be sharing strategies school personnel can use to support individual students.
